Bluetooth Speaker Roundup

9to5Mac has conducted quite an extensive review of some of the most popular Bluetooth speakers currently on the market. As someone who was looking for a new Bluetooth speaker only today, this was extremely useful. I’ve found Bluetooth audio to be very hit and miss, with connection or quality issues when using with iOS or OS X1.

Their best value recommendation was the DIVOOM Bluetune Pop (even cheaper without a mic) that rivalled even the Jawbone Jambox in volume and quality. My main requirement of a Bluetooth speaker is something that can be used in any room around the house – including the bathroom. Since most speakers aren’t water or moisture resistant, I’m happy to go for the cheaper option at the expense of battery life or sound quality as long as it works.

If you’re looking for a Bluetooth speaker, check out this guide.

  1. If, like me, you first attempt to go off-brand with your speaker choice, make sure it’s A2DP compatible and isn’t using Bluetooth 1.1, you’ll just regret it later. Instead, spend the extra money and get something with decent reviews.
