The BBC announced today that they’ve released an iPlayer app for Windows Phone 8:
A couple of months ago, Cyrus Saihan announced that BBC iPlayer would be coming to Windows Phones . I’m now pleased to announce that that day has arrived and for the first time BBC iPlayer is available on Windows Phone 8 devices.
Great news, except it’s not really an app as such:
The application – consisting of a shortcut to the mobile optimized website, live tile and media player – can be downloaded for free from the Window Phone Store.
Even though the app is just a shortcut and wrapper for the mobile site, it’s good to see the BBC continue making iPlayer available for as wide a range of devices as possible. It’s nowhere near as feature-laden as the iOS equivalent, but then neither is the Android version.
