To help deter theft and keep your data safe, as well as enable featured like Apple Pay, your Apple Watch can be protected with a passcode. If enabled, it’s required whenever you next put your Apple Watch back on your wrist.

Typing a passcode on a small screen can be a little tricky, especially if you’re wearing gloves. Fortunately, you can use your iPhone to unlock your Apple Watch without the need to enter a passcode.

  1. Open the Watch app
  2. Tap Passcode
  3. Enable Unlock with iPhone

With this option enabled, you can simply unlock your iPhone using Touch ID (or your iPhone’s passcode) and, as long as you’re wearing your Apple Watch, it is unlocked automatically.
